What a neat experience. I was able to participate in the Rexburg Temple Open house volunteer program tonight. It starts with a little mtg where they assign us all to our stations, there were probably over 100 of us. I was assigned to help in the Stake Center, where the tour starts. It was fun to see all the excitement in the visitors eyes. It was amazing how well it was planned out, to have over 10,000 people a day come through and in a nice orderly fashion. I saw quite a few old friends come though which made it even more fun. All the volunteers work at least a 5 hour shift. I thought by being inside I would be plenty warm, boy was I mistaken. With temperatures in reaching -16 F with wind chill, every time they opened the door for the next group coming or going it sent a shot of frigid air right down the hall where I was directing people as they exited the cookies and punch station. Needless to say I was frozen by pretty quick standing there in my white shirt and tie. It reminded me of a never ending wedding reception. I started at 4:45 PM and the last group for the night came through around 11:00 PM. As long as people are there they keep letting them enter. Quite a volunteer effort to say the least. I am glad I was there to participate in the excitement.
