Bicycle Rally

Saturday the Cub Scouts from pack #254 held a Bike Rally. They had a pancake and egg breakfast. They whipped up the batter with a drill and blending attachment. Mason thought it was great. Grandpa and Grandma Baldwin were up for a visit so got to come with us!

A police officer came and taught the cub scouts how important bike helmets are and then they all got to learn bike techniques and safety. The guy in charge of repairs was really cute. Mason and his dad loved the big pile of gravel that was in the church parking lot – while all of the other bikers were having a race, they decided to see how much air they could get.

I love Mason in his shades – he is really cool!

Since you will be spending a lot of time on a bike, learning bike safety is very important. We always want to think of safety first when we are playing hard.

Tales of the Fourth Grade

Mason came home with a smile, which was a good thing considering his many reservations about starting school up again. He liked his teacher, Mrs. Singleton, and his class and his new school, Kershaw Intermediate School. It helped that he sat by a boy named Karter who could make origami frogs, he made two for Mason! Now that is cool in Mason’s eyes.

Mason told his teacher that he would like to learn how to do division this year. He was glad that his teacher didn’t make him fill up an entire page explaining what he wanted to learn – she said division was good enough. That was the thing that Mason likes best about his teacher. His favorite part of the day was a fun questionnaire – he got to choose one of two things that was his favorite and then color in a person with the color it said. For example this was one of the questions he said was really hard to choose from: Build a tree house or go on a walk through the woods? He decided to choose build a tree house.

He said it will probably be a good year.

Seriously in Sixth Grade

Today was my first day of sixth grade! It was fun and I didn’t want it to end. My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Loosli (for Math). I get to go to different teachers for each subject. I go to Mrs. Presler for Language, and Mr. Garner for Science and Social Studies, he is funny. I go to Mrs. Daniels for Reading. Switching classes was my favorite part of the day and it makes the day go by faster. Instead of having study hall I get to do Orchestra. I told my mom I would try it out for one semester and see how I like it.

My classroom is by the lunchroom and it smelled good all morning. It was fun to see my friends again. Christina even cut her hair – it is so cute! Tomorrow I am bringing my marker so that everyone can sign my cast.

My goal for this year is to become prepared for Jr. High.

So far, So good!

Summer vacations seemed so long to me until 6th grade. Once I went to 6th grade the rest of my life seems to have raced by so quickly! On my first day of sixth grade, your cousin Ashley was born.

Ferocious Snails

Unfortunately Alexis won’t ever get to tell us how fun soccer was this year. She has been watching from the sidelines with a broken arm. The day she broke her arm was on a Sunday. As we were pulling into the driveway that day she started clapping her hands in the back seat with a gigantic smile on her face declaring that her first soccer game was Tuesday! She had a couple of practices and was having such a good time. Then the broken arm incident occurred.

She received bad new this past week that she wouldn’t be able to play for 4 more weeks. Well, soccer will be over by then. She was very disappointed and close to tears – remember she didn’t even cry when she broke her arm! She sat in for the picture of her team the “Ferocious Snails” this past week on the day she got the news. The team is made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders! Next year can’t come soon enough now.

Lex and I decided to plan something really fun for the day that her cast comes off – hopefully this will help lessen the disappointment of not playing soccer this year. She is a good girl.

Bricks

Here is a shot of Mason’s soccer team photo – they had a ton of people missing on picture day! He has a great team and they are fun to watch. It seems like this is the age when kids are playing because they really like it and they are understanding the game. We are so glad Mason decided to play this year – he does a great job! He has loved having his cousin Matt on his team. (thanks to Matt, Mason consented to play) We are sad that Matt won’t be able to play for the rest of the games because of his broken wrists!

Their team name is “Bricks”.

Orange Crushes

Lily joined soccer again this year. The Sunday before soccer began I was fixing Lily’s hair when she told me “it’s time for me to be getting serious.” I wondered what she meant and she explained that she needed to get serious about playing soccer because her first game was on Tuesday.

True to her word, she has taken it serious. She has had a successful couple of weeks – even scoring a few goals! This is a big turn around from last year’s attitude when she just wanted treats and the cool shirt. We are proud of our little “Orange Crush”. (team name)

Her soccer coach is Brian Howard – same as last year. She loves being on the same team as Grace and Gretta Michaelson, Sam Howard and of course cousin Taylor Ricks!

Nachooooo!

Last night all of the Parker cousins gathered at Jana’s house to have a party for Harry and my dad. They have the same birthday – August 14th. Mason and my dad rode Sancha to the party in their outfits, it was funny! It was fun to have Uncle Everett and Aunt Dot come.

First we ate. We had beans, corn, chips, and salsa. Then we made nacho masks – this was my favorite part. My mom even put one on JT, it made us laugh! We also had and ice cream cake decorated with luchadors, it was funny too! My dad and Paul had awesome costumes and I really liked John’s mask. It was fun to dress up, even JT did it. Jana and Paul made a very cool pinata and Jessie cracked it open. All of the kids went running and me, Paige, and Haley just walked.

I am glad that Jana had the idea of a Nacho party!
