Happy Birthday Teenager

Lex had her birthday and is now an official teenager! She has anticipated this day a long time. She enjoyed celebrating with the Parker Clan over memorial weekend. Her cousins are her most treasured friends.

Alexis is a special gal. Always up for fun times and a laugh. She really likes to make other people laugh by being silly, a repeat statement from years past – but STILL true. She has a unique gift of making life less serious when life can seem daunting. She is an amazing big sister and knows just the things to say or do to comfort or cheer up  or help her siblings. She is also very resiliant – Stephen compares her to a buoy…not that she drifts around, but that she is able to pop back up when she gets knocked down. She has a cheerful countenance and sparkling eyes that want to do what is right.

Happy 13th Birthday Lex!

80s do

Here is the sweet hair do that Lex received from the Paul Mitchell Hair Acadamey the final night of Upper Valley Idol. She told them she would be performing "Girls just wanna have fun". 🙂

She was a little scared of the big bangs…I just had to post it here so I could document it.

UVI Finals

Thank you for all coming out to show your support.  It will be a memory of a lifetime. Thanks to your support, help, and votes I earned 2nd place. I wish all you Utah and Texas dwellers could have come to party afterwards! Thanks for all you do!

Love <3 Lex

Upper Valley Idol – Breakable

Hey everyone just wanted to give you an update on my Upper Valley Idol, last night I pulled off making it to the second round against some stiff competition, thanks to all the support from all you family and friends. Thanks for all the loud cheering I heard you back stage!;)It was fun having all my friends help me do my hair and practice my song. Thanks to my parental support! Thanks Uncle Scott for the awesome accompaniment.

So, next week I will be singing again on March 19 (Pocketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedningfeild). Hope you can all come again!

Mom was shaking like a leaf she was so nervouse so the video is a little rough.

Lex, you nailed it! You sounded so good! I wish we could have been there in person to see you.

Speaking of being “fragile,” my stomach was getting pretty fragile from the camera shaking at certain times. 🙂 I mean, I’m thankful to whomever recorded it so that I could watch it.

Half Time Show

The SSJH cheerleaders surprised us with a half time show last week at the Basketball game. They did a really great job and it spotlights Lexi’s favorite part of cheerleading – stunting. She is the girl on top on the left at the end. The cheerleaders are preparing this dance for a competition in March.

Lex is almost done with her 7th grade cheerleading career. She will be done cheering after these home basketball games (march 2 & march 11) and after the cheer competition.  So if you want to come and watch her cheer (some have asked) these will be the last opportunities. The 7th grade games start at 3:15 (after school). She is still deciding if she will cheer next year as she is thinking about trying out for Volleyball? This girl is always up for trying new things, which makes our life fun trying to keep up. 🙂

Type 1 Diabetes

Lex and her friend Cortnie just finished doing their report on Type 1 Diabetes….they created this informative poster and Stephen was asked to be a guest speaker at Health class yesterday. Lex said that all of the kids were excited about getting their blood glucose tested. Lex told me that the thing she learned that she didn’t know before was that Diabetes attacks the pancreas. Food for thought…

Alexis Unplugged

This video explains a lot about Alexis…she is a funny girl.

Lex, I admire you for knocking over the “brick wall” I put out for you to go through on this. I think it is so cool that you were determined (and brave) enough to do something you’ve always wanted to do, and you did it so well! YEAH FOR YOU!!!

Holiday Who-rah!

The party girl was on it again and insisted on a Christmas party with her friends. She invited 16 girls, but when all was said and done only 5 came. Lots went out of town and all of her friends (5) from the ward were grounded or had company. The instructions were to come in their favorite who-do and to bring a gift to exchange. It was fun to see what they came up with. There was good food, rock climbing, and they watched "The Grinch" with Jim Carrey. It was fun for Lex to get to have her friends from school over – the ones that she is always talking about.. When inviting friends over we usually stick with the ones from our ward because they live closer. I appreciated getting to know them and why Lex likes them – they are all great girls! Cute as ever and funny too!
