A Sweet Little Six Year Old

Lily’s birthday finally came after many days of counting down. I am pretty sure it was the day after her last birthday that she asked, “How many days until my next birthday?” When it was finally 10 days away we received a notification everyday. I am so glad for Lily – she makes me so happy and I love her very much. She really is a sweet six year old.

This week in school she got to be the VIP in honor of her birthday week. She was so excited to be the line leader and the girl that gets to go to the front of the room to help the teacher!

When Lily came up the stairs this morning she saw her easel set up and was so excited…we had been telling her that her present was so big we couldn’t wrap it up very well, so today I asked her what she thought she was going to get. She said she thought it was going to be a big pink pillow. I asked if she was glad it was an easel, she responded with a quick “Yes”.

Also, today was the Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast at her school. Stephen, Olivia, and I were able to go to the school and have lunch with her – she loved it. After school she went to dance class and had fun with Gretta and Oakley (her friends), and then got to go to wrestling practice with Stephen and Mason – She loves going there. Immediately following that we all assembled at the church for Pack Night and then rushed home to eat cake and ice cream with Grandpa and Grandma Parker, Jana, Ryon and Family.
What a fun filled day to turn six!

The girl loves rock!

I was getting ready to go to bed tonight when I saw a pile of rocks on my night stand. How did they get there? Lily. It seems like everyday this past week on her long walk home down the driveway she found a beautiful rock to give me. These rocks are gifts for me, and everyone is “so pretty and special”! Could this be a sign of some future en devour? Maybe she will be a geologist someday,a masonry worker, or better yet a jeweler! This love for rocks has been handed down from one sibling to the next. Alexis and Mason are also rock lovers, although their passion has wained. Alexis preferred shiny, sparkley, small ones. For Mason it was all about how big of one he could lift and carry or how many small pebbles he could accumulate in his pants pocket to clog my washer. Oh, I forgot, Stephen also loves to collect rocks. He brings rocks home off of every mountain he climbs. Lily has no preference – she just loves them all.

Snow White Won

After much debate I finally settled on being Snow White for Halloween. It was a toss up between Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Red Riding Hood. I liked asking my family’s opinion the last few days about which one they thought would be best. My mom thought that I would make such a cute snow white once again (I was Snow White a couple of years ago) and she was right. I received a lot of compliments on what a good snow white I made!

Lil’ Climber

When we went climbing at Grandpa and Grandma Parker’s house, Lily showed that she is becoming quite a climber. She was trying so hard and very proud when she made it to the top. Notice her outfit…she is into choosing some interesting combinations these days :). She also earned the first rootbeer float!

Soccer 2007

Lily has made a new wonderful friend, Bryn Hatch! They are very cute together and have lots of fun. They were on the same soccer team. As parents I think sometimes we make a lot of assumptions. We (Stephen and I) thought Lily would follow in the footsteps of her older brother and sister and really enjoy and get into soccer. After the first few games of retrieving her from the playground during her game, we found out that wasn’t going to be the case. The truth came out, “I only wanted to get the cool shirt and treats.” After explaining to her that she couldn’t just walk off of the field when she was ready to be done – she had to wait for the coach, she kicked it up a notch and finished off the season. Her main motivation for playing was getting those fun treats afterward! It will be interesting to see what happens next year??

Kindergarten Keepsakes

Today was Lily’s first day of Kindergarten. It started when she woke up with Mason and Lex in the early morning hours of 6:30, and school just wouldn’t come fast enough! The bus wasn’t to come until 11:30. “Mom, how much longer? It takes forever!”, was a common rambling heard throughout the house. Much to her and my delight, moms were invited to come and experience the first day – even the bus ride. On the bus she ditched me to sit with her two friends, I was happy for her. At school she found her desk and met her teacher. Her teacher, Mrs. Thomson just had a baby 11 days ago – and the baby was there! We also met the two week long substitute teacher. Lily is o.k. with this notion – she is understanding mostly because I’m going to have a baby like her teacher. We weighed and measured Lily at one of the centers and guess what? Lily is 42 1/2 ” tall, and weighs 42 1/2 lbs.- easy to remember and fun! She also got to decorate a stick and write her name on a lot of things. She also made a bus necklace which tells the teacher her mode of transportation. When we walked out the door she asked, “Mom, can I go to school everyday?”

Lily’s Locks of Love

Today was a big day for Lily – Aunt Jana cut 10″ of hair off! Lily has been thinking about doing it since the beginning of the summer. Recently her cousin Paige cut hers off too, this reminded Lily that she wanted to do it as well. When I told her that they use her hair to make wigs for people who have lost their hair she said she wanted to give her hair to her dad or Uncle Scott. After explaining that it is used for cancer patients, she was o.k. with that idea too. She walks around shaking her head and exclaiming, “I just love my short hair!” When you see her next time she might ask you to take part in her poll, “Do you like my hair long, short, or both?” I think she looks darling with BOTH!
