15 months old now

JT is getting up there in months now – WOW! Time has a crazy way of rolling by quickly, especially with five kids. I love it, even if it feels out of control most of the time! I am trying to love/live every moment I can and not just go through the motions, it is hard not to wear myself out, but it beats the alternative (watching soap operas and eating bon bons ðŸ™‚ ).

Because life can get crazy I find that my JT time is delegated to someone else in the family and I feel sad at night thinking of all of the things I missed out on. I guess it is good for the siblings to serve each other once in a while and develop their own bonds of love. Sounds like I’m a little jealous of my own kids. They all love JT and watching him grow.  Here are some of the things we have discovered:

JT can say – dada, momma(sparingly), hot, hat, ttttttt(tractor), nana(banana), and other various chatters.

JT will now eat food that has not been purreed in the food processor – he was getting picky there for a minute with textures! And I am happy to report that he will now feed himself, when I am feeling patient enough to clean up a big mess.

JT loves to eat bananas, yogurt, potato soup, chili, carrots, and drinks lots of milk. He also like to sneak in a few whoppers from dad’s stash, or eat a spoonful of ice cream.

JT waits by the patio door longingly everyday and makes a run for it if any door opens. He is ready to be outside – all of the time! He especially loves to be pushed in his swing (I love to hear his giggle and see is great big space between his teeth). He has a bitter-sweet relationship with tractors. He loves them from a distance and shouts out "ttttttttt" but then when they get close he screams with fright. I guess a giant tractor could be a bit intimidating to a 1 year old. You can imagine how stoked Mason was to discover this common interest among them. He rushed to his room and dug out some of his favorite tractors to let JT play with.  JT is lucky to have an awesome big brother. He also has a good arm – chucks anything he is done playing with, sippy cups, pacifier, balls, etc. He is also getting good at dribbling a soccer ball.

JT likes his dad  –  A LOT. He gets offended if Stephen doesn’t talk to him or pick him up when he walks by. Stephen is always great at giving him the attention he needs and has such fun playing with his little boy.

I love kissing those sweet cheeks and hearing his happy laugh every moment I can.

Garbage can fetish

Today before church we went into the primary room to have Lex and Olivia practice their scripture. I let JT walk around in the room while I coached Lex and Olivia, we then headed back to the chapel for church. I noticed that JT’s pacifier was missing and that is a life saver in sacrament mtg. I scoured the bench looking for it, and sent Lily back down to the primary room to look for it, still no pacifier. I then went into the primary room myself knowing that JT likes to through things. I looked everywhere but it just wasn’t to be found. As I was walking out of the room I noticed a garbage can about JT’s height. I thought to myself, he wouldn’t put it in there. Sure enough though he had thrown it in the trash. Crazy dude….but wait there is more….

Jodi just told me that later that day when she was in the primary room JT had tipped the can over, pulled the liner out and had crawled into the can. All she could see was his feet sticking out. He then pooped his pants while he there….guess he was looking for his pacifier and just couldn’t take the stress of not finding it.

My first Easter

I had my first Easter Egg hunt this weekend. Mom noticed that just like my brother and sisters, I was happy and content to only pick up the first thing I laid eyes on. I also got to wear my first tie to church today and eat my first Eater Dinner. We went to Aunt Stacie and Uncle Rick’s house for a yummy ham and potato dinner. Mom gave my a spoonful of hot twice baked potatoes and my mouth got scorched, but I forgave her when she scooped a spoonful of raspberry pretzel salad in. Mom says that I am making some very creative noises these days. My most common sound is spitting with my tongue out. I get really excited when I play with toy cars, and think that pinwheels were a great invention. Oh, yeah – my sister’s have been pushing me in my swing, and Mason talked mom and dad into going on a bike ride yesterday. I have a lot of fun with my family.

And the winner is…

Grandpa Baldwin and Grandpa & Grandma Parker win, by getting 7 correct! There was a slight discrepancy because Grandpa B said Quiet and Destructive in addition to Quick and Strong – he was close, but the answer was only Quick and Strong. Grandpa – sometimes JT can be pretty destructive! You’ll receive a box of whoppers next time we see you – if Stacie can fit them in, we’ll send the Parkers’ with her.

If you were wondering, the winner(s) to JT Trivia at the party were: Jana and Paige – they both got 8 correct. The adult and children competed separately.

Here are the answers to the JT Trivia challenge:
1. Dad
2. All of the above
3. Opening up all of mom’s cupboards
4. Quick and Strong
5. Anything that makes noise
6. Give them my best smile
7. 6 lbs 9 oz – 19″, and 6:42 pm
8. 18 lbs 29″
9. Dad’s friends
10. Jehovah is Salvation

Thanks for participating and making this fun!

My Big Day

The day started off early when I decided to wake up at 5:40 am. I didn’t want to go back to sleep so when my mom’s alarm went off at 5:46 we all got up and celebrated – Me, Mom, and Dad! They introduced me to my new piano that dad put together last night. I then watch them ride their bikes and then everyone finally decided to join the party. They watched me open my other gifts. Then I ate a blueberry muffin and a glass of chocolate milk. Of course I was ready for an early nap.

Later tonight my cousins and friends came over to wish me a happy day. We ate monkey cake and soup. Mom had to grab my hand away from the flame on the cake, I thought it was cool. I really liked eating my cupcake!

One thing is for certain – I have a lot of people who love me!

Peppermint Bandit

This month JT turns one! Not only is he getting quick, he has a super strength…today at church he grabbed the bread tray and wouldn’t let go – needless to say a few pieces of bread flew. He also pushed a row of three primary chairs. He has quick & strong hands, but he is as cute as a button. He gets “oohed” over at church all day long. I think one of his biggest fans is his big sis, Lex. She thinks he is the cutest. Yesterday she commented to him, “I am so glad you are in our family.” I am too!

Check this video out of the “peppermint bandit”.

We can’t believe he is a year old. The candy grabbing video is so cute. He is happy no matter what, if he can just see what he wants, he keeps trying. We were wondering how many times he would go around the table. He is a cutie. Sounds like everyone in the family loves him.

Baby’s First Christmas

JT was basically celebrating his 10 month old birthday on Christmas. We can’t believe how fast the time has flown by. We loved watching the world through his happy eyes and smiley face. Santa left JT a walker and his dad is very serious about JT using it. For some reason he thinks JT needs to be getting ready to walk, I (on the other hand) and quite happy with his limited mobility for now. I seem to be winning because all JT wants to do with his walker is play with the toys on front.

It has been a crazy life to keep up with if you are a baby. Lots of parties, lots of people, lots of cold, lots of food that looks good to eat, but can’t because you’re a baby. He was quite the trooper and did pretty good with it all. He has ventured out in the cold to play only a couple of times and is very happy to just stay inside and play with is drawer of toys in the kitchen.

He made Grandma and Grandpa happy as he shouted out his few words with limited use, “Hey”, “mom”, and “dada”. He is very fast as he gets up the stairs and we have yet to teach him the basics of going down. Maybe now that life is slowing down we can work on that. Stephen fixed up the gate so that he will be safe upstairs, but we still need to do several other baby proofing things.

The last couple of days, JT has had a fever and been throwing up. He is in the process of getting his first teeth (bottom two) – and it is not going to happen without a fight I guess. It was the saddest and sickest I’ve ever seen him. I don’t like it! His little head has been burning up and he just looks miserable – poor thing. I hope to see him back to his happy self very soon!

Some Firsts

Here are a few pictures of the little guy at our house. He is gearing up for his first ever Christmas.

Today his sisters bundled him up in his snow clothes and pulled him in the sled. He wasn’t very excited about it – especially the bundling part – but he put up with it for at least 5 minutes.

He also took a ride on the vacuum for the first time tonight. Mason ran and grabbed the camera to capture this milestone (he is his father’s son!).

He also got his first “buzz” haircut on Sunday. He looked so handsome and of course smiled through the whole process.

Life with JT around is so much fun! We are sooooo lucky.

Alexis loved riding on the vacuum, so I thought I’d try it out with JT. He didn’t like it as much as she did.

Likes to help with the dishwasher.

JT keeps having trouble with his pjs at night. He wakes up with both legs on one side of his pajamas…it is kind of funny.

Mason trying to warn JT of how this is such a necessary evil.
