Making Mucas Memories

JT has had some congestion problems off and on over the past few months. We have put the bulb syringe to the test in cleaning out the problem. The first time we did this, he started grinning from ear to ear. I made Stephen come in to watch because it was so comical. Our other four children pretty much screamed bloody murder when the bulb made it’s way even remotely close to the nostrils. But Ole JT thinks he is at the day spa being pampered. He has held positively consistent with this grinning reflex and seems to actually ENJOY the process of having mucus excreted from his nose. Here is the picture to prove it!

JT you are crazy, that is not fun. Maybe it just feels good to be able to breath again. He sure is cute, can’t wait to hold him.

Guess what happened today?

Today little JT Parker turned 8 months old! Can you believe that the days are spinning that quickly? He is all but ready to take off in the crawling department. He scoots around a lot and is beginning to get into crawling position from sitting. I have definitely NOT given him a ton of opportunities to get moving. Poor kid – I am trying to slow his progress down as opposed to child #1 Alexis whom we couldn’t wait to get to the next milestone.

JT was suppose to be in Portugal today. We got him a passport and everything. When it arrived in the mail it made me smile – he was grinning away and looking official in his 6 month old body. We had him packed and ready to go, but then Lily had her mishap. He got to go visit Grandpa and Grandma Baldwin this time instead. All of the kids got to spend the night there. Grandma Baldwin told me that when Lexi went to the store with Grandpa the next morning that JT started to cry. I thought that was cute. He sure loves his family.

He seems to be growing well. When it is time to eat he will let out a little yell of excitement before taking the first bite. As if to say, “Finally – now that’s what I’m talking about!” He still an easy going well tempered child – he makes us all happy.

Loves to splash and kick. When we change his diapers he is kicking and running in place – ALWAYS!

Going with the flow.

BEWARE

This little fella may be cute, but he knows how to mark a territory really quickly! Alexis was pretty startled. Luckily she forgave him after her shower and still likes to hold him.

We have to send out warning messages to anyone who would like to hold JT. Hold him facing outward or BEWARE!

He is pretty irresistible because of his cuteness, but when the chowder comes up he can loose friends fast.

Jana was our champion spitter-upper. Now look how well she does. She hardly drools. This should be good preparation for Alexis.

He’s gonna blow!

Seven months old! Seems like passing months now are like what passing hours felt like when I was Lily’s age. Time is speeding up without my permission…did you ever see the show “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”? She could stop time by touching her two pointer fingers together – I wish I were her sometimes.

Anyway – Our family’s favorite thing that JT has been doing this month is playing peek a boo. He is so funny to watch giggle. He thinks it is so fun, maybe he is just laughing at how goofy we look trying to play with him? Mason wrote a great tribute to JT for a writing assignment (check out Mason’s blog). Lex is the queen babysitter now – able to babysit ALL 5 kids without too much stress. Lily wants to be the first one to hold him in the morning and the last one to give him a snuggle before bedtime. Stephen is enjoying JT’s age a little more – he likes it when babies are old enough be NOT be so fragile. I am feeling a lot more freedom as JT decided to ween himself. It’s crazy how I can feel two opposite emotions at the same time – elation and sadness. It is hard/sad knowing this is the last time I will get to do this kind of stuff, but on the other hand… I’m hoping to be diligent with holding him while he drinks his bottle so I won’t miss out on the one on one time with him (not wanting to prop it – although I’ve done it a few times already- oops). Nobody’s Perfect, isn’t that right Miley Cyrus? Olivia deserves a whole paragraph as to what’s been going on for her and JT this month.

Olivia has been fun to watch as she tells me to touch JT’s head gently and stroke it. She is also great at giving hugs and kisses and just talking cute to him or sing him songs or read him books. BUT, we have also been trying to be creative with how to keep Olivia away from JT – for safety’s sake. She has been found carrying him around and then dropping him, pulling his poor little arms, wacking toys on his head, yanking his feet as I carry him, she has even been known to sit on top of the guy. So now that he sits up he is usually on a blanket, we’ve been spreading it out with random toys scattered around so that he can pick them up and suck on them. One day I decided to tell Olivia that we were going to pretend that the blanket is hot lava and if she touches it she will melt. At first she still tried to carry on with the poking and prodding, but recently she has been reminding me about the hot lava and I see her hanging out around the edges of his blanket.

We were at our friend’s house the other day and explained the game that we play. Their little girl said, “I don’t like the hot lava.” She doesn’t think our game is very cool or fun. I told her that one of these days the volcano might erupt. If she sees this video, she’ll understand why…I was completely drenched tonight! This eruption happened not only once, but twice! Two different solid streams with lots of power…luckily I don’t think JT is sick – just didn’t settle well.

Here’s to another month with the coolest baby around!

Six Months

My little baby boy is growing! He is now 6 months old (yesterday it was official). I got a glimpse of him the other day while he was sleeping and was surprised at how big he looked. I wish time would slow down a little bit.

He loves to eat “food” now and moans with “mm, mm, mm” while he eats, his little feet kick in excitement too. He watches the food we eat and put to our mouths like a hawk. I came in from running this morning carrying a glass of water and he was mad at me for not sharing until I game him a sliver of an ice cube! Funny little dude. He seems to love pears the most and really hates peas and carrots.

He has all but mastered sitting up and he can spin around in his exosaucer with ease. He really knows who his family is and shows his excitement when any sibling or parent talks to him. He is also really good with other people as well, a very social babe.

His nicknames are: Obviously JT, little J, Josh, little man, little dude, and buddy boy. Lily seems to like calling him Joshua, and Olivia and I call him JT Parker A LOT. We like to use his full name for some reason?

He is cute as ever and the apple of my eye!

Happy Five Month Old BIrthday

Today was JT’s five month old birthday…he woke up after spending his first night in Island Park at the cabin on the hill. After waking up we made our way down to the “big cabin” to meet and greet the extended Parker Family for our annual family reunion. In true JT fashion he turned on the charm and gave out his friendly smiles to the family onlookers. He is a great little baby and I think he has an extra sparkle in his eye! He has been talking to us a lot lately and we love to listen to his stories. He is now 13 lbs 5 oz and is 26 inches long. All of his spitting up episodes are not helping him be a heavy weight kind of baby, but we think he is perfect just the way he is!

JT is such a cute 5 months old! We love his smiles and sweet disposition, too. He’s so blessed with 3 loving sisters, a proud big brother amd the best parents he could possibly have. He has reason to be happy! Maybe he’s happy because he knows what he has! Hugs and Kisses!

He’s pulling the plug

All babies do it, and now it is JT’s turn! He has started pulling out his own pacifier – even if he needs it. It makes me laugh to see his troubled face when he pops it out…I know he doesn’t realize what he is doing yet, still it is a funny sight. The boy has some seriously mobile arms, even while he’s sleeping they are moving around trying to figure out what they are suppose to be doing. I gently try and hold them and sometimes they stay put. Maybe he’ll be a boxer? (I hope NOT)

JT Parker knows I love him

This is the name of the song that we like to sing to JT – it always produces a giant smile. He recognizes it and calms down immediately if it it sung to him. I also took a few videos of him yesterday, thought Grandpa and Grandma (Baldwin and Parker) would enjoy…I am glad JT is happy and healthy and one of us!
