Making Mucas Memories

JT has had some congestion problems off and on over the past few months. We have put the bulb syringe to the test in cleaning out the problem. The first time we did this, he started grinning from ear to ear. I made Stephen come in to watch because it was so comical. Our other four children pretty much screamed bloody murder when the bulb made it’s way even remotely close to the nostrils. But Ole JT thinks he is at the day spa being pampered. He has held positively consistent with this grinning reflex and seems to actually ENJOY the process of having mucus excreted from his nose. Here is the picture to prove it!

JT you are crazy, that is not fun. Maybe it just feels good to be able to breath again. He sure is cute, can’t wait to hold him.

JT is a blast. What other kid would grin like that in a situation such as this??? He is the best natured little boy. What a keeper. I sure love him.

Hey, that’s great, did you email that girl from Portugal? She loves High School Musical. Her walls in her room are covered with their pictures. Give her a try. She is not a member of the church but her mom is.

Spiritualy Fed

Here are my notes from the 2008 Stake Conference, I was very touched by the words which were shared and feel that this will make me a better person because I was able to attend. I could really feel the love and concern as Elder Hammond and Elder Maynes spoke to us…

President Marcum – Be sensitive to the spirit, don’t just nibble on it’s power. Be at peace at the temple. Filled with the holy ghost because of the sacrament.

Elder Hammond – like a hood neighbor stake arms are there. 1st is a family 가족 para siempre. PTC – parent testifying center. If you do not doubt god will deliver you. Multiply and replenish, replace ourselves and replace our knowledge into our kids.

Elder Maynes – good to be active better to be faithful, establish Zion don’t just build the church. “Everyone wants to change humanity, but no one wants to change themselves.” Mere theory never saved anyone – Brigham Young. Theory + practice = results

Priesthood leadership mtg
Elder Hammond – Because I am an elder, that is why I will do it.
Spiritual reflex to say yes to every calling and need.

Elder Maynes – want keeps our youth active? We need to generate spiritual experiences. Our children are our investigators. Have the priests teach a primary class or any lesson to provide them with a spiritual experience. Ask our children to help give the lesson in FHE. Have them perform priesthood ordinance. How are we going to do it? Details not just theory.

My Music

Here are some of my favorite songs!….

Another Halloween Come and Gone

Next to impossible to get everyone to look at the same time and smile!Candy, treats, and more sweets – it’s all about the candy for kids! All in all it was good while it lasted, but it will be nice to see November 1 on the calendar.

Olivia, JT, and I were able to help with Lily’s class party today. Instead of a traditional Halloween Party they learn about King Tut and Egyptian stuff. Olivia loved watching the kids be muffified with toilet paper and couldn’t wait for her turn. JT slept in the corner the entire time!

I was happy that Stephen let us know about the AMX trick or treat that happened at his office. Kids were able to walk from one office or cubicle to the next filling their treat bags. Lily was excited that she could wear her costume because she didn’t get to wear it to school this year. Such a great alternative for a mom with five kids. It was a total win/win situation. JT loved the sucker that Uncle Ryon gave him. He sucked it with the wrapper on until it eventually fell off! He sucked on the whole thing until it was gone – funny boy. Olivia loved to have a black nose and whiskers drawn onto her face, and Mason went for his Anakin Skywalker outfit from last year – he just couldn’t decide what to do until this morning. Alexis put Lily’s hospital gown to good use and chose to be a hospital patient. We were glad she remembered to wear clothes underneath :-).

We only had one family of trick or treaters tonight, and that is just fine by me! I loaded them up to the hilt and their eyes were big with delight. We chose to stay home and play games and watch a Don Knot movie from long ago, “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken” with friends. It was a great solution.

We had a Happy Halloween and life is going well! It is nice to have all of my kids close, I realize that time is moving quickly and it won’t always be like it was tonight. I am glad to have experienced one more fun day with all of the people I love the most!

Alexis the hospital patient.

Full costume

Anakin Sylwaker strikes again.

Here kitty kitty.

Bat Boy struck gold with his first ever candy!

Halloween Pictionary

Found out ping pong works using plates, paddles, and books.

Halloween morning before school. It was sooo dark – time change Sunday will be good for that .

Lily’s interpretation of “Ice Princess”.

That’s my Boy

I came home from work tonight to a pleasant surprise of Mason doing the dishes all by himself. Made me think of Dad when he would “slick up the dishes” or even be the ring leader of the effort.

Looking East

I had to snap this shot this morning, one of those simple sites that we see so often yet when we look closer we notice the real beauty. What makes this so beautiful is the reflections of the sun off the clouds and the mountains. Yet at other times we see clouds as dreary and sad. Just goes to show what the Son can do to any thing it’s “light” touches. Both seen and felt…

The Son has certainly made our lives more beautiful, and ” our purpose is to invite people to come unto Christ”. Pretty powerful weapon against the ugliness of many people’s world.

Joy Ride

Jodi surprised me tonight by inviting me to go on a little bike ride with her for our anniversary. It was fun to just take time to talk one on one with her and share memories of the last 14 years together. Her seat had been lowered by Mason, so it was much more difficult for her to make the ride up Summer’s Hill. I remember her saying I am not sure if I am going to make it to the top. I thought to myself, I need to change my mindset so we make this a joy ride not a training ride. We kept riding and talking and before we knew it we were at the top. I said to her I thought you weren’t going to make it to the top. She replied, I have learned never to think that way when I am with you. Great Girl.

When we reached the top we parked our bikes by a spud cellar and she opened up my backpack and pulled out a bottle of sparkling soda, a nice card, a bag of chocolate covered cinnamon bears, a CD with “Our Songs”, and two glasses. She never ceases to impress me. We had out own private toast and treats. It was great to be there with her. We talked about how it is getting more natural to just enjoy one each others company and not worry about trying to make everything just perfect. I am so happy to have spent the last 14 years under the same roof as Jodi. She is a true friend and ally in this life. We are off to a good start.

Extra Credit

Lex has become obsessed with earning an A in her science class. She is always trying to come up with some way to get a few extra points. Her teacher informed the students that anyone can have an “A” because he will always accept extra credit. I think Alexis had a B+ at mid-terms because she forgot to do the back of an assignment, etc.

Well here is a picture of her best idea yet. She made an animal cell out of jello. Red Jello frosted with whipped cream. She used shredded cheese, raw noodles, a whopper. If I were more smart I could tell you what each of those represented in her model.

I forgot to ask her if her teacher ate it?

Hey, Lex, great to see and hear that you are working hard in your Science class. Have you every thought about creating a PowerPoint presentation and using some of the fancy features. What is the next project? Do you need some ideas (from an OLD science teacher)?

As an old teacher , I would give her extra credit for just her smile and cheerful nature, but that is a cool cell.

If I was the teacher, I’d rather look at Jello and such instead of PowerPoint slides – but then again, I stare at a computer all day so I may be biased.
