Meeting Great Grandma Baldwin

I am growing fast! Mom has been teasing me about my baby acne, claiming I look like I’m already going through puberty. It has been lingering for the past 1 1/2 weeks. 🙂 Really, she thinks I am adorable as can be and is proud as ever to show me off. In fact, tonight I got to meet some of my family on the Baldwin side! We went to Blackfoot for FHE and I was able to meet my Great Grandma Lila Vinnette Lemon Baldwin for the first time. She was so excited and happy to meet me, and of course thought I was just so cute!

What’s for dinner?

As requested, here is my menu for April. I like using it – it takes the guess work out of what to make for dinner. PLUS- my kids always know what is on the agenda, therefore there is less complaining. I guess they just gear up for a night that they aren’t excited about and eat a big lunch! 🙂 I usually figure out which ingredients I will need for the week and just go out once a week to the Grocery Store. Click on Simplify 101 for a grocery shopping list that I found from Anne’s link: Simplify 101 Happy Cooking…and if anyone has a great meal idea that your family likes please share it with me!

Sounds good, but we will need a simplified shopping list, cause we don’t have alot of the ingredients. How about beans and rice? Thanks for being organized. I know that it really helps to know what’s for dinner before 5 O’clock.

I am in AH of your menu! We talked about it the whole way home. It is a great idea and I am sure keeps you on a good budget. I really need to get in gear and plan better. I usually cook three meals a week, other nights we eat really really simple. Quesadillas, cottage cheese & tomatoes. Homeade bread and peaches. Thanks for the jump start into better planning. I am sure it would save me a ton of money if I planned better

What a Place

I was asked last week by Gwen Lee to change from the early morning shift at the recommend desk to the Baptistery. What an upgrade!!! I loved greeting people, but this takes things to a whole new level. It is such a fun place to work when everyone there is there because they sacrificed to be there. Definitely a highlight for the week. I am just so thankful to be able to be a part of the great plan.

That’s so cool. The Orr’s (Dad’s cousin) wrote us from the Ukraine, they said it’s a week long event to go to the temple for people in the Ukraine. They travel by bus for 3 days and do as many sessions as they can in one day and get back on the bus and travel 3 days back home. We are so blessed to have a temple so close. It doesn’t seem like much of a sacrafice fro us. But what a great place to be able to be. Proud of you!!

A Weekend to Remember!

Sweet as can be!What a fun and memorable weekend! It all started Thursday night – our kids got out of school for Spring Break. Friday morning Stephen was up at the crack of dawn with a borrowed skidster and ready to go get some trees for our yard. He loaded up Lily and Mason and they went out to Hibbard and came home with many large quaking aspens! Very exciting and a lot of work for them. This is the first day mind you that we have been able to go outside and actually work in the yard, at this point there are still a few patches here and there of snow. After planting the trees everyone helped clean up the yard and worked extra hard. THANKS BE TO THEM!!! While they were outside, me and Josh were inside creating our own whirlwind. It was a very productive day. Stephen and I met up with the Parker couples (it was fun to have John and Michelle here) at Mill Hollow for some conversation and sweet treats.

Saturday was a special day for our niece, Kate. She was able to be baptized and confirmed by Rick. It is wonderful to know that she is pretty on the outside and especially the inside. We are proud of her and love her lots. We went to their house afterward and enjoyed some good food and company. My children were so excited about being outside again! They had some good games of basketball going and riding motor scooters and jumping on the trampoline, etc. We came home did a few more odds and ends around the yard and then had Eric, Magan, Grant, and Grace over. So much fun to see them – we don’t get to hang out with them very often. What a cute family! We broke out our 1980’s Nintindo and played the power pad. It was great. Thanks to Eric and Magan for coming over here to support us this weekend for Joshua’s blessing. As they were leaving I noticed that everyone had a little sunburn – a fun sign that Spring has Sprung!

Sunday morning was a bit hectic, but still exciting. It was fun getting little JT ready for his big day. He looked so handsome in the blessing outfit Grandma Baldwin got for him. How lucky we are that he is in our family. We love him very much! We appreciated everyone who came and showed their support and love for his special blessing day. We also appreciate those who weren’t able to come but sent their love. We came home and feasted once again and played some fun games and just enjoyed each other’s company. We found out that Uncle John is very limber – we know where Kenzie inherited this from. We also were able to find out what we would all sound like as pigs! We played the traditional Baldwin “BAG GAME” and “GRUNT PIGGY GRUNT”.

Monday we played some more and went bowling and had an ice cream party at Jana and Ryons! WOW – Spring Break ended up being productive, extra fun, and most importantly a special memory!

What is a Packet?

Tonight I taught the priests in our ward about networking. I was surprised that out of 5 boys none of them had ever heard of a packet, frame, TCP, UDP, port, patch cable, switch, or even a hub. I thought that was common knowledge for the youth of today :-), I guess I was wrong. Those are words I use around the house all the time so my kids are familiar with them. I guess I am more of a nerd than I thought I was…Just so you know a packet is a basically a bunch of bits with a header payload and trailer…they are what travel across the internet with great speed.

For Ladies Only

For Ladies Only … read at your own risk if you aren’t. My mom sent me this email today and I thought it was so funny, and I needed a good laugh! I think I will have to print it up for Aunt Dot!

ISN’T THIS THE TRUTH ??????
You may need to stop at the women’s restroom . . . be prepared!

When you have to visit a public bathroom, you usually find a line of women, so you smile politely and take your place. Once it’s your turn, you check for feet under the stall doors. Every stall is occupied.

Finally, a door opens and you dash in, nearly knocking down the woman leaving the stall. You get in to find the door won’t latch. It doesn’t matter, the wait has been so long you are about to wet your pants! The dispenser for the modern ‘seat covers’ (invented by someone’s Mom, no doubt) is handy, but empty. You would hang your purse on the door hook, if there was one, but there isn’t – so you carefully, but quickly drape it around your neck, (Mom would turn over in her grave if you put it on the FLOOR!), yank down your pants, and assume ‘ The Stance.’

In this position your aging, toneless thigh muscles begin to shake. You’d love to sit down, but you certainly hadn’t taken time to wipe the seat or lay toilet paper on it, so you hold ‘The Stance.’ To take your mind off your trembling thighs, you reach for what you discover to be the empty toilet paper dispenser. In your mind, you can hear your mother’s voice saying, ‘Honey, if you had tried to clean the seat, you would have KNOWN there was no toilet paper!’ Your thighs
shake more.

You remember the tiny tissue that you blew your nose on yesterday – the one that’s still i n your purse. (Oh yeah, the purse around your neck, that now, you have to hold up trying not to strangle yourself at the same time). That would have to do. You crumple it in the puffiest way possible. It’s still smaller than your thumbnail.

Someone pushes your door open because the latch doesn’t work. The door hits your purse, which is hanging around your neck in front of your chest, and you and your purse topple backward against the tank of the toilet. ‘Occupied!’ you scream, as you reach for the door, dropping your precious, tiny, crumpled tissue in a puddle on the floor, lose your footing altogether, and slide down directly onto the TOILET SEAT. It is wet of course. You bolt up, knowing all too we ll
that it’s too late. Your bare bottom has made contact with every imaginable germ and life form on the uncovered seat because YOU never laid down toilet paper – not that there was any, even if you had taken time to try. You know that your mother would be utterly appalled if she knew, because, you’re certain her bare bottom never touched a public toilet seat because, frankly, dear, ‘You just don’t KNOW what kind of diseases you could get.

By this time, the automatic sensor on the back of the toilet is so confused that it flushes, propelling a stream of water like a fire hose against the inside of the bowl that sprays a fine mist of water that covers your butt and runs down your legs and into your shoes. The flush somehow sucks everything down with such force that you grab onto the empty toilet paper dispenser for fear of being dragged in too.

At this point, you give up. You’re soaked by the spewing water and the wet toilet seat. You’re exhausted. You try to wipe with a gum wrapper you found in your pocket and then slink out inconspicuously to the sinks.

You can’t figure out how to operate the faucets with the automatic sensors, so you wipe your hands with spit and a dry paper towel and walk past the line of women still waiting.

You are no longer able to smile politely to them. A kind soul at the very end of the line points out a piece of toilet paper trailing from your shoe. (Where was that when you NEEDED it??) You yank the paper from your shoe, plunk it in the woman’s hand and tell her warmly, ‘Here, you just might need this.’

As you exit, you spot your hubby, who has long since entered, used, and left the men’s restroom. Annoyed, he asks, ‘What took you so long, and why is your purse hanging around your neck?’

This is dedicated to women everywhere who deal with a public restrooms (rest??? you’ve GOT to be kidding!!). It finally explains to the men what really does take us so long. It also answers their other commonly asked questions about why women go to the restroom in pairs. It’s so the other gal can hold the door, hang onto your purse and hand you Kleenex under the door!

This HAD to be written by a woman! No one else could describe it
so accurately!

I think we have all been in that same situation at least once in our lives!! Throw in a couple kids that you are trying to keep off the filthy floor or trying to expose you before your ready to exit while doing the rest mentioned above and you have had a work out that counts as your exercise routine for the rest of the week at least! I once went to a restroom in the mall in Ogden and a lady ran in before me she had to go a lot worse than me her daughter that was with her kept saying you “really did have to go you are stinky mom…wow” over and over I felt really bad for her.

The Violin Teacher

Olivia is so funny. For the past few weeks, during the day and on into the night, she has been playing with my violin sculptures (there is a big and little one). She treats them as if he is her baby, claiming he has a poopy bum and even trying to feed him “like mom does”. She gets dish towels out of the kitchen for his blanket. He has even said the prayer with us and she also tried to take him to bed. I told her he is pretty hard and it might hurt if she rolls over on him. He has become quite the friend to her as he listens to her secrets. When I asked what his name was she said, “the violin teacher”.
