We woke this morning to find a little deer eating breakfast in our forest. Everyone was excited as we quietly whispered and we opened the blinds for a closer look. It was almost as if it was famous, because it posed for every picture. Very fun way to start a day.
Family are Friends
Haley’s 70s Party – where’s Haley? This past weekend I went to Utah for a visit. The night before we were to leave, Mason came down with chills and a headache so Stephen and him had to stay home. This made our little travel into a girls getaway. We (Lex, Lily, Livvy, and me) had loads of fun screaming out Disney Mania songs the whole way and being totally girly. When we got to Utah we ate at European Connection(according to Stephen – a girl place to eat). Alexis was able to go to Haley’s 70s Birthday Party. She had loads of fun and even came home with a tie dye shirt. Lily loved playing with Jessie. My favorite part about the party was Uncle John’s red parachute pants – what a fun dad. After that we went and ate pizza and played at Lance and Anne’s house. Our purpose for going down was to see Sami get baptized Saturday. She did and it was a special day. (For some reason I didn’t get a picture on my camera of this – bummer) I love to be a part of these events that help remind us of why we are here. We went to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes with everyone from the baptism and then me and my girls ventured over to IKEA. Yeah! It is always a treat to go there – even in its enormity. We then drove to Orem to see my parents we went to “Bee Movie” with them. Sunday we woke up and drove to my sister Michelle’s house and attended church with them. It was Carter’s birthday and he was ordained a priest. We were so lucky to be able to join with them for such a wonderful event. After church we went to Brian and Michelle’s for lunch and visiting with Brad, Amy and family. It was much fun for me! I came home so happy and optimistic! I really enjoy going to Salt Lake City – it is my nostalgia kicking in from days gone by. Mostly I just love visiting my Family who are also my FRIENDS!
First Place !!!
Today I wrestled in the Shelly Wrestling Tournament, it was a great day. The First person I wrestled I beat 17-3, just before the next match I threw up (I think I have the flu still) he beat me by a couple points my dad was too busy cheering to get any pictures of this match, the next one I pinned him, then I had a bye, then I won the last one. It was a round robin tournament so since I scored the most overall points I won first place. I was so excited because I thought I was going to get second until they added up the points.
I went into the Rexburg Temple
Tonight my Dad took me up to the Rexburg Temple to get our trailer that the carpet installers were using. When we got there we went inside and saw the sealing room alter being built, it was very nice. We also saw tons of other rooms, the temple is big inside. We found some carpet scraps on the way out and I now have a souvenir from the Rexburg Temple. What a pretty place.
Anakin Skywalker
Mason was very excited about being a Star Wars character this year – especially since it meant carrying a light saber around. He was so excited about his costume he wanted to wear it to school the whole day for Halloween. Last night I tried to reason with him that it might get ruined or dirty during recess time and to just wait until his party at school. This wouldn’t do! He started to have a melt down – it was either wear it to school or not go to school at all …I then told him I would compromise with him and he could wear it to school, but that he couldn’t play hard during recess – like digging in rocks and sliding around, etc. We wouldn’t want this nylon costume to run would we? This suggestion made the melt down escalate – how could I expect him to even have ANY FUN! At this time I am thinking, “Well it is true – it IS just a costume.” But by this point I was committed to my compromise, knowing in the back of my head it was a silly battle I was fighting. After all, he is an 8 year old boy and why shouldn’t he enjoy a full day in this wonderful new costume on Halloween? It only comes once a year.
So what happened you ask? I tucked his costume in his backpack for school trying to avoid any confrontation this morning and sent him on his way. Upon returning home I asked what he ended up doing with his costume – he said, “I put it on when I got on the bus this morning.” I guess he decided to play carefully at recess because, yes, the costume is just fine. Another lesson learned for this Mom!
Snow White Won
After much debate I finally settled on being Snow White for Halloween. It was a toss up between Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Red Riding Hood. I liked asking my family’s opinion the last few days about which one they thought would be best. My mom thought that I would make such a cute snow white once again (I was Snow White a couple of years ago) and she was right. I received a lot of compliments on what a good snow white I made!
We’re off to see the Wizard
Halloween 2007
Miss Hillcrest 2006-2007
Stephen helped Kendall Pyper scan these pictures so she could make her farewell as Miss Hillcrest 2006-2007 in a couple of weeks. (He put them on our blog as a backup) She was our favorite babysitter of all time from Idaho Falls and we love her family! It was fun to talk to her and see her – she is going to BYU-I.
Lil’ Climber
When we went climbing at Grandpa and Grandma Parker’s house, Lily showed that she is becoming quite a climber. She was trying so hard and very proud when she made it to the top. Notice her outfit…she is into choosing some interesting combinations these days :). She also earned the first rootbeer float!
