Ode to my Wife of 13 Years

OK so I should have written this first, but it is hard to keep up with Jodi. She is always so concerned about making others feel good. I thought it would be fair to have her hear it back at her. I am not very original by doing this, but better than nothing 🙂

We will be married 13 Years tomorrow and it seems just like yesterday, that we were waking up in St. Anthony. I would get up and light a fire in the wood stove while Jodi would fix us a great breakfast, she would even play on the Piano while the food was cooking. I had no clue at the time that she was so talented. She can do anything. Here is just a short list of her many qualities that I adore:

1. She can sing like no other.
2. She can play the Violin by ear, any song you name it she will pick it out.
3. She plays the piano and really sets the mood of the home.
4. She is a great Mom, always reads the kids a story at night.
5. She is consistent you can always count on her.
6. She is loyal I have never had a better friend.
7. She is tolerant even when she shouldn’t be.
8. She is loving to all around her.
9. She is spiritual, I learned while on my mission that she is close to the Lord, by the letters she would write me. Thought I was writing to a GA.
10. She is a full of charity for all around her.
11. She is funny, she can always make me laugh even when I don’t want to.
12. She is selfless, as you can see by her having another baby even though it is very painful on her legs for the whole time.
13. She is Mine, that is the best part of all she is my best friend. And I couldn’t ask for a better one. She is so kind to me and thoughtful, always making sure I am happy. She is why I am the man I am today, she keeps me in tune with the reason we are here.

I Love you Jodi, thanks for being my everything.

Love,

Stephen

Ode to my Husband of 13 Years!

Isn’t he Cute?Caution – this may contain a lot of sappiness! Those who continue reading will have to muddle along…but I must declare my devotion and love without restraint.

Tomorrow is Stephen and I’s 13th anniversary. It doesn’t seem possible that time could go by so quickly – but it has. I am going to take this opportunity to brag about 13 qualities (in no particular order) that I love about my cool husband and favorite person in the whole world.

1. I have never had to take my car to a mechanic!
2. I love the fact that he takes pride in being self-sufficient.
3. My children have THE funnest dad ever- who is highly involved in their lives.
4. He is super smart and has a knack for remembering numbers, he teaches with analogies – whether it is gospel oriented or computer lingo.
5. Doesn’t ever raise is voice in anger – very patient. Hates contention.
6. Smiles, even if he is sad.
7. My favorite shopping companion – he lets me decide where we go.
8. Adventurous – Running Marathons, Climbing Mountains, Building Houses…
9. Industrious – there isn’t a lazy bone in his body.
10. Thoughtful – Never forgets a special date or occasion.
11. Endlessly helping me out and trying to make me happy.
12. Supportive of my emotional, sprititual, educational, and physical pursuits.
13. Has a magic hug that makes all of my worries, sorrow and pain dissolve.

Only a sparce few of the many, many reasons that make me happy to be the wife of my best friend, Stephen Sperry Parker. Aren’t I so lucky?

At one of my Bridal Showers I was asked what “our song” was. I have no idea what I said, but I was shocked at the answer he gave them! He said, “Livin’ on Love” by, Alan Jackson. I think I had heard it a couple of times, it still isn’t my favorite song – but I do agree with the message. I think the phrase sums up what life is all about in all relationships – especially marriage.

My First wrestling Tournament

Today I wrestled in my first wrestling tournament, there was a short clinic before the tournament. I got to wrestle with Chris Owens (4 Time state Champion and head coach for Boise State) He taught us some good drills and take downs. The tournament was a take down style. The first one to get 3 take downs wins the match. My first match was against the State Champion from last year, not a fun first match but it got better with the next few guys. I wrestled a boy from Madison, Blackfoot, and Rigby. I ended up taking third in my class, not too bad for my first time, it can only get better.

The Count Down

Too Late…I am already here now.

The Self Cleaning Pooper

A few weeks ago Olivia came up the stairs buck naked! I asked her were her clothes were and she said “downstairs”. I took her hand and walked with her to find her clothes. As we approached the bottom of the stairs I could see I was in for a surprise as we walked past a trail of about five wipes. I immediately steered my direction to the bathroom holding my breath and praying. To my delight she had taken her poopy diaper off on the tile floor in the bathroom. (not on the carpet!) Inside the diaper were several wipes – at least she was thorough. Perhaps this is a sign for the much dreaded road of potty training! YIKES! I have yet to begin…Wish I would have taken a picture!
